Mrs. Suzie Spits was born April 4th, 1943 in Wan Joo, a small town in the southwest part of Korea. Her Korean name was Choon Ja Choi. Her father was Nak Sun Choi and her mother Young Rei Yu.
She had eight brothers and sister that lived very close in a typical small Korean house. Choon-Ja was considered the most beautiful and intelligent of all of her brothers and sisters. She was always a very caring and loving person, even as a child. The Korean War was a difficult time she had to face at age of ten.
Suzie went to high school in Seoul and later she attended a beauty school so that she could learn a trade. She joined the church as a high school student in 1959. Her eldest brother, Rev. young Suk Choi, who is one of the 36 Blessed couples, is a famous church leader from the early days of the movement. In 1976 she re-joined the Unification church and was givber a pioneer mission to witness in a rural community in Korea where there was a small church. She worked very hard to bring new members.
In September 1978 there was a special matching for Korean sisters and American brothers. Choon-Ja Choi and Robert Spitz were matched together. In December 1978, they had a civil marriage in Korea. This is when the formal wedding photo above was taken. In 1979 she came to the United States. She lived at the New Yorker Hotel for a few months and then joined the IOWC witnessing and fundraising mission with many Korean sisters. She was blessed with Robert Spitz in July 1, 1982 Blessing of the 2075 couples at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Mr. Spitz was chosen to study at the Unification Theological Seminary and during his stay at UTS she gave birth to their only son, Danory. His name, given by True Father, is a combination of “Danbury” and “Victory.” Graduation, Robert became the State Leader in Northern California where Robert practiced law and became the AFC Director. In 2002 they moved to Chino Hills where they currently reside.
Suzie had diabetes and had been diagnosed with schizophrenia in 1994. She had many hospital visits over the years and in her last days had lost most of her vision.
She was looking forward to the return of her son from STF. Danory, returning from STF, and his father who met him at the airport, returned home only to find that she had passes peacefully into Heaven just a short time earlier. She suffered a heart attack June 30th around 11:00pm.
